1. Scope and editions
This policy applies to Screenshot Brain for Android, published by Bytesweavers.tech. The app may be distributed in two editions with the same core screenshot features:
- OfflineNo internet permission, account, analytics service or ad SDK. Screenshot features work in airplane mode.
- Ad-supportedGoogle Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) are included. Network access is used for privacy messaging and eligible banner or interstitial ads. The screenshot index remains local.
The edition installed on your device determines which advertising disclosures apply. An ad-supported edition does not send screenshot pixels, OCR text, extracted passwords, tags or search vectors to Google through our ad requests.
2. Photo access and local processing
With your permission, the app reads images in your Android photo library to detect and index screenshots, including new screenshots discovered through Android MediaStore and scheduled background reconciliation. It requests image access, not general file-storage access. On Android versions with selected-photo access, automatic indexing requires full photo access; with only selected photos, indexing is paused rather than claiming a complete library.
On-device Google ML Kit bundled models recognize English/Latin text and visual labels. The app extracts items such as dates, links, addresses, tracking numbers, Wi-Fi credentials and receipt amounts, and stores the derived text, labels, tags and search vectors in an app-private Room database. Image thumbnails are cached locally. Original screenshots remain in your photo library and are not altered or deleted by Screenshot Brain. Current indexing supports the primary shared photo volume, not secondary removable volumes.
3. Advertising data and partners
In the ad-supported edition, advertising is disabled until the app's age choice and privacy checks permit a request. If you choose the no-ads or under-age path, core screenshot features continue without ad requests. Where required, UMP presents regional consent choices and an in-app privacy-options entry point.
When Google Mobile Ads operates, its SDK automatically collects and shares an IP address (which may indicate approximate location), product interactions such as app launches, taps and ad views, diagnostic information such as performance or crashes, and device or account identifiers such as an app set ID. Google and its advertising partners may use this data for advertising, measurement, analytics, security and fraud prevention. The app removes access to Android's advertising ID permission, but that does not eliminate all other identifiers. Google may use cookies or similar local storage where applicable and may process data in other countries. The SDK reports that this data is encrypted in transit with TLS. Google controls its separate retention and deletion practices.
Read Google's Mobile Ads data disclosure, how Google uses partner data, and Google's privacy policy. The exact ads and consent availability can vary by region and the choices you make. We do not select personalized ad topics using your screenshots.
4. Storage, security and retention
The derived screenshot index is stored in Android app-private, credential-encrypted storage and is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. This is not a claim of separate SQL-level database encryption. Android's device protections still apply. Sensitive details are protected from screen previews and marked sensitive when copied to the clipboard on supported Android versions; copied text is then subject to your device's clipboard behavior.
Use Erase private index in the app to delete derived OCR, labels, tags, vectors, processing state and thumbnail memory without deleting original screenshots. Indexing stays paused until you resume it. Uninstalling the app removes its private index. Revoking photo permission in Android settings prevents further photo access. We have no Screenshot Brain account or server from which to retrieve your local index. Deleting the local index does not erase information already processed independently by Google for ads; use Google's privacy controls for that data.
5. Choices and children
You can decline photo access, change the ad edition's age choice, turn ads off, revisit available advertising privacy options, erase the local index and uninstall the app. The ad edition is not designed to show ads to users who select the under-age or no-ads path. A person who does not make an adult choice receives no ad requests from the app. The app is a utility for a general audience, not designed for children.
6. Your rights and contact
For privacy questions, requests concerning data under our control, or a concern about this policy, email bytesweavers@gmail.com. We cannot access or correct data kept solely in your on-device index; you can erase it in the app. For data processed by Google, use the linked Google privacy controls. Applicable regional privacy rights remain available to you.
We may update this policy when the app or advertising practices change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be reviewed before release and reflected in the app and this page.
