Privacy Policy for PornBlock AI
Effective Date: May 20, 2025]
Your privacy is important to BytesWeavers.tech ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our PornBlock AI browser extension (the "Extension"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not install or use the Extension.
Information We Collect
The Extension is designed to function locally on your device. To provide its core functionality of identifying and blocking potentially inappropriate content, the Extension processes the following types of data:
-
Web History (URLs): The URLs of the web pages you visit are processed to determine if they require analysis or match your blocklists. This processing occurs locally within the Extension.
-
Website Content: Based on your settings, the Extension may extract and process text content from web pages (such as page titles, meta descriptions, and portions of the main body text). This data is used for analysis by the selected AI model.
-
API Keys: If you choose to use AI-powered blocking, you will need to provide an API key for your selected third-party AI service (e.g., Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude). These API keys are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage on your device and are NOT transmitted to or stored by us (BytesWeavers.tech). They are used by the Extension solely to make direct API calls from your browser to the respective AI service you have configured.
-
Configuration Settings: Your preferences for the Extension, such as blocking mode, schedule details, AI model selection, block thresholds, custom blacklisted words, and motivational quotes, are stored locally in your browser's storage.
-
Locally Stored Logs: The Extension may store event logs locally in your browser's storage for troubleshooting and monitoring purposes. These logs do not contain personally identifiable information beyond URLs processed for blocking.
We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, address, email address, or age directly through the Extension, unless you voluntarily provide it to us through support channels.
How We Use Your Information
The information processed by the Extension is used for the following purposes:
-
To Provide Core Functionality: To analyze web content based on your settings and the selected AI model to identify and block potentially inappropriate content.
-
To Customize Your Experience: To remember your settings and preferences for blocking modes, schedules, AI models, and other features.
-
To Interact with Third-Party AI Services: When AI-powered blocking is enabled, the Extension sends website content (URLs, text snippets) and your API key directly from your browser to the AI service you have selected (e.g., Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) for analysis. The use of your data by these third-party AI services is governed by their respective privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:
-
For Local Troubleshooting: Locally stored logs help in understanding the Extension's behavior on your device if issues arise.
Data Security
We are committed to protecting your information. The Extension is designed with privacy in mind:
- Local Storage: All your settings, API keys, custom lists, and logs are stored locally on your device within the browser's secure storage. We do not have access to this locally stored data.
- Direct API Calls: API calls to third-party AI services are made directly from your browser to the respective service. Your API keys and the content being analyzed are not routed through our servers.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. The security of data sent to third-party AI services is subject to their security practices.
Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your data to outside parties, except as described below:
-
To Third-Party AI Service Providers: As described above, when you enable AI-powered blocking, website content and your API key are sent to the AI service provider you select for the purpose of content analysis.
-
For Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).
User Rights and Choices
- Access and Control: You have full control over the settings and API keys stored by the Extension. You can view, modify, or delete these at any time through the Extension's options page.
- Disabling the Extension: You can disable or uninstall the Extension at any time through your browser's extension management settings. Uninstalling the Extension will remove all locally stored data associated with it.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold if applicable in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from children without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information.
